How to use Student Ratings of Instruction Data Fairly When Evaluating Faculty

Student Ratings of Instruction (SRI), aka course evaluations, attempt to gather student perceptions of faculty teaching effectiveness. Those data are then often used in the faculty evaluation process. We will discuss effective and fair ways of using SRI data, including issues of survey quality, dealing with bias, and effective inclusion of peer/self evaluations and course artifacts into the decision making process.
