THINK Globally, TEACH Locally

Any college whose mission calls for responding to societal needs will find itself in a state of permanent change. How does a college think global and teach local? How does it respond to a constantly changing social system and still maintain the unique meaning of its degree? How does a tiny college in Pasadena with a fierce commitment to social justice maintain consistency as well as currency at two campuses, at sites throughout California, and online?

Building Best Practices for Faculty Support in Community Based Learning

As the department on campus that links courses, students and community partners, we have worked extensively creating individualized community placements aligning course learning goals with community needs. This session will allow participants to look at innovative ways of engaging faculty, along with it’s challenges, while maintaining the integrity of the pedagogy.
