Topic: Leveraging Accreditation: Strategic Planning & Institutional Change
Humboldt State University’s 2015-2020 Strategic Plan captures four broad goals and represents many voices; it was not, however, well-aligned with HSU’s past WASC self-studies and WASC CFRs. In order to better orient University priorities, we developed and applied a strategic plan implementation process that first clearly distinguished our goals from objectives, and then matched these to our past, current and prior self-study objectives, and to the WASC Criteria for Review.
How can accreditation be leveraged to reduce resentment and increase the institution’s ability to thrive in changing landscape of higher education? This session will tell the story of how one institution grappled with the reaccreditation process and provide strategies to position accreditation as a benefit to the campus community.
